Marie-Hélène Viens is a director and screenwriter. She mainly works in collaboration with Philippe Lupien. Their short films Bernard Le Grand (2013), Amen (2016), and Nous Sommes Le Freak Show (2017) have screened at nearly a hundred festivals and won about fifteen awards, in addition to being sold worldwide. Vous n’êtes pas seuls (2024), their first narrative feature film, premiered at TIFF, where it received an honorable mention from the jury for the Best Canadian Discovery Award. After its Montreal premiere at the FNC in October 2024, it was released in 27 theatres across Quebec. The film has screened at several international festivals and won the Best Film award at the Not Film Festival in Italy. It also received five nominations at the Gala Québec Cinéma: Best First Film, Best Supporting Role (François Papineau), Best Editing, Best Music, and Best Visual Effects. The duo is currently collaborating on their second feature film, Zipper, which is in the financing stage. They are also developing their upcoming film and television projects.
