Right after graduating from the Dramatic arts Conservatory of Montreal in 1984, Sylvain Hetu joined the founding team of Ma Chère Pauline Productions, a company dedicated to creating theatre for 14 year olds and over. There, he wrote, directed and played, notably under the direction of Louisette Dusseault (C’est à ton tour), Daniel Simard (Tiens tes rêves), René Gagnon (Corps étranger), René-Daniel Dubois (Le troisième fils du professeur Yourolov) and Robert Lepage (C’est ce soir qu’on saoule Sophie Saucier).  

For the younger audience, he played with the Théâtre du Nouvel-Ontario (Le chat d’Étienne), the théâtre de Quartier (Les petits orteils, which he played 650 times in the span of 20 years, Max et Milli, La peau de l’autre, Les deux soeurs). As well as with the puppet theatre L’Illusion, (Histoire à dormir debout, Chantefable) and the Petit Théâtre de Sherbrooke (La tempête, Cat et Billy, Les voyages de Gulliver). 

In 1997, he founded the Théâtre des Lucioles, allowing him to play in L’ornithorynque and to take on the direction of Suzanne Lebeau’s Une lune entre deux maisons. The play toured all around Quebec and France. He was on the stage of the Rideau vert in André Brassard’s Richard III, at the Licorne under the direction of Francine Ruel (Les sables émouvants, tango) and of Normand Canac-Marquis (Faut pas payer) with the À Tour de Rôle Productions in Carleton.

For more than 25 years, he has lent his voice to hundreds of roles while dubbing, narrating and in voice overlay for movies, series and documentaries. Notably, he is the french voice of Jason Statham (22 films, including the Fast and furious series), of Mark Ruffalo (17 films) including the Avengers where he plays Bruce Banner (Hulk), Willem Dafoe (10 films, Finding Nemo), Brendon Gleeson (Harry Potter), Seth Green (Austin Powers), Javier Bardem (Dune), John Turturro, Jon Favreau, George Lopez (Beverly Hills chihuahua), Jet Li, Richard E Grant, Gerard Butler (How to train your dragon), Mel Gibson, John Malkovich, Danny de Vito, Alice Cooper, Ben Affleck, Samuel L Jackson, Jarred Harris (Sherlock Holmes), Peter O’Toole (Ratatouille) and many others.

He was the narrator of the 13 seasons (130 episodes) of Un tueur si proche broadcasted on Canal D. In addition to being the channel’s announcer for 4 seasons.

In advertisement, he was Apple’s voice for 5 years (more than 30 ads on the television and web), as well as for BMW’s radio advertising (around 40 ads over the course of 6 years).
