Since a young age, Gabriel-Antoine Roy has been passionate about acting. It was on stage in the theater that he performed for the first time, and it was a real shock: love at first sight. At 14, he bought his first camera and convinced his entire neighborhood to make films in which he starred. A little later, he discovered improvisation, a discipline particularly close to his heart. A graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada in 2018, he continues to explore the many facets of his craft: dance, performance, on-camera acting, clowning, and mask work. This pursuit has led him to work with artists such as Nicolas Cantin, Peter James, MĂ©lanie Pilon, Peter Schumann, Valdimir "7Starr," MĂ©lanie Demers, StĂ©phane CrĂȘte, and FrĂ©dĂ©rick Gravel.
In recent years, he has taken part in numerous theatrical productions. Notably, he performed in Les Beaux-Dimanches by Christian Lapointe, presented at Théùtre La Chapelle. At Théùtre Prospero, he played "the Other," a half-human, half-creature being, in Lâapparition des os dans le corps, a production by CrĂ©ation dans la chambre, written by Gabriel Plante and directed by FĂ©lix-Antoine Boutin. More recently, he portrayed an incompetent camp counselor in ZĂ©ro de conduite, a creation by JĂ©rĂ©mie Niel and Evelyne de la CheneliĂšre. At the same time, he was both performer and dancer in On/Off by Jacques Poulin-Denis, a production currently touring in Quebec.
Gabriel-Antoine also has a strong creative vision, which he brought to life in the play Mains moites, where he was both an actor and a creator, directed by Brigitte Haentjens and Catherine Gaudet in 2023. He is also the co-creator and performer of On n'est pas des trous de cul, a play presented at Espace Libre in 2020. Additionally, he created La Grande Mascarade in collaboration with Ătienne Lou, an interdisciplinary performance unveiled at Théùtre La Chapelle in 2024 and set to be revived at Espace Libre in 2025.
On screen, he played JP in Ariane Louis-Seizeâs horror comedy Vampire Humaniste cherche suicidaire consentant and Johnny B. in Alexandre Franchiâs latest film. He has also appeared on television in the series Faits Divers, Toute la vie, AprĂšs, Libre dĂšs maintenant, and IndĂ©fendable.
